An open house to collect thoughts on what the public would like see in downtown Allegan will be Thursday, Sept. 28, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Griswold Auditorium, 401 Hubbard St.
“It’s completely informal and open to anyone who would like give their ideas,” said Allegan City community development coordinator Jordan Meagher. “It’s not led by city staff or the DDA, it’s just a walk through anytime between 5 and 7 p.m.”
In the past the city has held charrettes or community workshops and participants have been given choices between options. The new format is set up to be more open to new ideas without influencing ideas in a specific direction.
For instance, previous charrettes have been held in the city for such specific projects as the riverfront design, the library expansion project and the courthouse square.
The open house is open to any ideas and not geared to a specific project.
