(Updated Nov. 1) OTSEGO TWP.—A local hunter discovered human remains in Otsego Township over the weekend.
The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call, around noon on Sunday, Oct. 29.
After a thorough search of the area, it was determined that the bones found were human and had been there for some time.
Nov. 1, investigators said theidentification was likely to take several weeks because DNA or dental records will need to be used. The sheriff’s office is still working with Western Michigan University’s forensic team.
Investigators do not feel foul play was a factor, but the case is still under investigation while the remains are identified.
The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office was also assisted by Plainwell Department of Public Safety and the Michigan State Police.
